Ryan
Hello. I have wordpress installed to my root directory in the /htdocs folder. I just purchased and added a domain name to my account. It created a folder in my root directory named after the domain name and said to upload my website files to the htdocs folder in that new directory. How do I move my current installation of wordpress into that new directory so that the new domain name directs to it? I was able to install a second copy of wordpress into the new directory and get it functioning, but I don't want to build my website all over again when it's already built in the root /htdocs folder. I've tried manually moving the folders from the original wordpress installation into the new htdocs folder via ftp and editing the details in the wordpress manager without success. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Edited November 25, 2022 by Ryan
TinkerMan
To move the files from /htdocs to /domain/htdocs, I would use a desktop FTP client like FileZilla, then just copy and paste the files, just like you would do as if you were on your desktop. Then you will have to change the site URL, I would actually do that before you migrate in WP settings.

This is exactly what Ryan did: 2 hours ago, Ryan said: I've tried manually moving the folders from the original wordpress installation into the new htdocs folder via ftp and editing the details in the wordpress manager without success. Ryan
Thanks guys, I got it figured out. I had the "Directory" and "URL" right in the edit details section but I didn't have the "Website URL" right in the wordpress manager. Once it started working for some reason it broke all the embedded images on the site and I had to update each of them, but otherwise it's working on the new domain just like it was on the root one. Thanks again!
